  Do you still Pray?

  since i stopped being a jw i haven't prayed.

  so the other day i went to supper at my parent's house who are still jw's, and they prayed before we ate.

  it was a very strange feeling, and it stirred up alot of weird feelings.

  While I was still "in" I never prayed (except for meetings etc). I didn't pray for a long time afterwards either. I have started praying now, and I do think He listens. I have experienced healing through prayer, and I know others that have had their lives affected through prayer. The one thing to remember is that we can ask for anything, we just might not always like the answer we get, and sometimes it takes a long time (or so it seems to us) to have a prayer answered.

  Elders raid a SDA church!

  is it true what we're hearing?

  it's been reported to us that two elders burst in to a sda church service about a month ago seeking to trap a witness man there.

  the man, a witness for 14 years, had become disillusioned with the affairs of the wts in australia after viewing the "sunday" program on channel nine which exposed the cover-up of paedophilia in the witness movement.

  Elders in my area have been known to visit churches. A friend of mine said they come to her church a few times a year, sit there and take notes, then go up to the pastor afterwards and tell him everything he said that was wrong! I have visited this church on a few occasions, and wondered if there were any elders lurking around - although it's in a different territory and they probably wouldn't know me anyways.

  Can you imagine? Must have been short on their hours.

  I had heard that the witnesses that had their homes repaired by the society had to pay for the repairs if they received any insurance money. Unfortunately I cannont confirm this 100%, but heard it second hand from someone in Florida after the disaster.

  Has anyone else heard of this?

  Have you recieved any "gifts"?

  i have read from day one how dubs aren't restricted by worldly holidays (specifically c'mas and b'days) as they can give gifts any day of the year.. i married into a huge dub clan.

  to this day (20years and counting) i have never recieved a gift from anyone.

  my cheap ass dub bosses never even gave an end of the year bonus (totoally tax deductible).

  My parents were really good. We got little gifts on our birthdays, even a cake (but no candles), we'd get things over the Christmas holidays too, so we had something new to go back to school with. They'd bring us back little things if they went away for the weekend etc. I can remember bringing them back little things when I went to visit my grandparents, getting Anniversary gifts for them etc. I had it pretty good I think compared to what I've read of others experiences.

  As for my husbands family - zip, zilch, nadda, nothing ever - no anniversary gifts, not even a card - the odd time a phone call. My two brothers in law, celebrated their 20th anniversaries this year and no celebrations - nothing! My family uses anniversaries as an excuse to throw a big party, get all the relatives together, JW and non JW and have a good time! (Not that ever needed an excuse - it just seemed to work out that way.)

  I've recently started listening to Christian music too. The WOW worship CD's are great, they have alot of different artists. I went to a Thrid Day concert this fall it was FANTASTIC! Toby Mac was there, as well as Day of Fire (Toby Mac is rap and Day of Fire is hard rock). You can get any type of music in the Christian section, it's not all just the gospel stuff.

  Yeah, I have to admit BK is pretty gross. I like Wendy's fries. I eat MD fries, but am re thinking that after the movie Super Size Me. Those fries lasted forever!!

  lol..........so, okay, every once in a while, i enjoy smoking a cigar............right now, i'm enjoying a backwoods sweet aromatic...........i love the taste.........it's very mild...........and, i'm enjoying an after dinner shot of romana black...........please share at your leisure and pleasure...........

  I remember the first time I tried a cigar. I was about 7 years old, there was a salesman that came to the house and he had a cigar. The stub was in the ashtray, and while my parents were outside with him, I tried it. OMG!!!!! Of course I inhaled, all I can say is puke!! I don't remember how many shades of green I turned.

  I have smoked the odd one, our neighbour goes to Cuba once a year and brings us back some for watching his house. The first time we smoked it in the house!! BIG MISTAKE. Now we wait for a nice spring evening and sit out on the deck.

  I have to say I love the smell of a good pipe. I can remember one of my teachers smoking a pipe in the teachers lounge at school, it smelled sooooo good.

  Man goes berserk at Pennsylvania Burger King that ran out of french fries

  DuBOIS, Pa. (AP) - A Burger King customer berated the employees and nearly hit one of them with his truck after the clerk at the drive-thru window told him they were out of french fries, police said.

  Gregg Luttman, 22, made an obscene gesture at the drive-thru clerk on New Year's Day, then walked into the restaurant and cursed at the staff, said Sgt. Rod Fairman of Sandy Township police.

  When he returned to his pickup truck, he saw restaurant workers taking down his licence number and put the vehicle in reverse, nearly hitting one of them, Fairman said.

  After being stopped on a highway a short distance away, Luttman scuffled with police and kicked out the back window of a police car, Fairman said.

  Luttman was charged with assault, reckless endangerment and other offences. He was freed Monday on $2,500 US bail.

  May take months to identify children truly orphaned

  Dateline: December 31, 2004

  In response to many inquiries from concerned Americans, the U.S. Department of State has stated that it will not be possible for U.S. citizens to adopt children who have been orphaned by the tsunami that struck parts of South Asia.

  According to the State Department, the international standard in a crisis is to keep children as close to their family members as possible. It can be extremely difficult to determine whether children whose parents are missing are truly orphans. In the current situation, many children have become separated from one or both of their parents. Even when children are indeed orphaned, they are often taken in by other relatives. Staying with relatives in extended family units is generally a better solution than uprooting the child completely.

  The State Department believes that it will take many months before the situation in those countries affected by the tsunami stabilizes to the point where the countries will be able to identify the children who are legitimate orphans. It is only if and when these countries decide to make these orphans available for international adoption that American citizens will be able to begin adoption proceedings for these children.

  Americans who wish to contribute to ongoing relief efforts in response to the tsunami may obtain further information at www.usaid.gov or from the Center for Disaster Information (CIDI) at 703-276-1914.
